Kelli J. Claxton, Esq.

Attorney Kelli J. Claxton is a Northern Michigan native, calling Traverse City her hometown.  She graduated from Traverse City Central High School.  Kelli then went on to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, with a focus in Comparative Politics.  After undergrad, Kelli received her Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law, also earning a specialty Indigenous Law Certificate. 

Upon graduation from law school, Kelli returned to her roots in Traverse City and joined local firm 360 Law where she practiced for 7 years before founding Claxton Legal, PLLC.  Prior to graduating law school, Kelli’s legal experience included a judicial internship with the local 13th Circuit Court-Family Division, where she drafted Grand Traverse County Local Court Rule 3.800, Michigan Indian Legal Services, the Michigan State University Indigenous Law and Policy Center, and with the Law Offices of Deborah LaBelle in Ann Arbor, where she assisted with the notable Michigan class action suit, Neal v. MDOC.  Kelli is now admitted to practice with the State Bar of Michigan and the United Stated District Court for the Western District of Michigan.

Outside of the legal world, Kelli enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and fur babies, traveling, listening to audiobooks and being outdoors.
